Annual Benefits Housekeeping
We are currently in what is known as the “Open Enrollment period.” This is a critical time to review and update your benefits and personal information—especially if you have experienced a significant change in health or household status. Recommended actions during Open Enrollment:
Verify and update your contact information (address, phone number, email).
Confirm or update life insurance beneficiaries.
Review deferred compensation and annuity investment allocations.
If desired, change your health and wellness benefit plan; the City’s 30-day Open Enrollment window allows plan changes.
If you recently dissolved a marriage or domestic partnership, promptly remove your former spouse/partner from your City benefits and from any union benefit records. Agencies may seek reimbursement for claims paid to ineligible family members after a qualifying life event.
If you have questions or need assistance, contact your HR/benefits office or union representative for guidance and deadlines.
Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season
November is a time for thanks, family, and friends — and no one in our GOAL community should have to face the holiday alone. If you are looking for a place to spend Thanksgiving with fellow members, need companionship, or are feeling depressed, please reach out to info@goalny.org so we can help arrange a meal, connection, or support. Also, if you would like to host someone, please let us know.
Counseling and other services are available to all GOAL members; don’t hesitate to ask for assistance — we are here for one another.
Have something to share? Whether it’s a special moment, milestone, or event, we’d love to feature it in an upcoming newsletter. Send us a note and let us celebrate with you!
