On December 1, 2026, GOAL will honor Police Officer Peter Guardino at our annual World AIDS Day ceremony. After ten years on the force, Peter publicly came out by marching with 35 GOAL members in the New York City Gay Pride March in 1983. He later worked alongside co-founder Sam Ciccone and other LGBTQ+ officers to challenge department prejudices. Peter later died of AIDS in 1999. Peter’s AIDS quilt panel will be on display in NYPD Police Headquarters - Hall of Heroes beginning November 25th.
