Statement on the murder of O’Shae Sibley

As an organization, we stand united with our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex and allied family in grief and in anger of the brutal and inhumane murder of O’Shae Sibley.

As I have said many times, “Queer people are not at home in this nation.”  If we cannot live and exist freely and safely on the streets of one of our most sacred municipalities, New York City, where can we?

We condemn this heinous act of violence. We condemn violence against queer and marginalized communities.

We have been in open communication with NYPD leadership regarding this investigation and we are confident that justice will prevail for O’Shae and their family. We will be relentless in our pursuit.
